Ive been looking for a spelling app for a while now and this is the first to meet the needs of both my nine year old and my 6 year old. Easy to set up spelling lists, study, then take the quizzes. My kids have both French and English spelling tests for school and this is now their favorite way to practice!

This developer delivers quality apps. We have been using this app for a couple of weeks for French and English spelling tests. The kids love using it to study their words and test how theyre doing. I give it my highest recommendation, though I would note that there are still a few bugs as the app crashes every now and then when adding new words through the word manager.

I was really enthused about this app when I read about it. I thought it would be a great study tool for my son who has weekly spelling tests. It was expensive but I thought Id give them the benefit of the doubt. Unfortunately, I find that it falls short. The biggest frustration is that the keyboard sometimes disappears during the test and the nay thing you can do is stop the test and start over. My son has given up on this app due to this problem, he gets very frustrated. Also, there is no way to actually view a test after it has been taken. Due to the keyboard problem, I was attempting to see which words he had done and which he didnt and it only tells you that he didnt attempt all the words, but it doesnt tell you which ones were not done and which ones were done. I give them kudos for the effort. The concept is great, but I think the app just isnt mature, and as such, they really should lower the price. Its expensive for what you get...

I was looking forward to a program like this for my son. Its an interesting and well-built app. However, it definitely needs more words. Also, it should be easier to add the words to the quiz (one shouldnt have to scroll the grade level each and every time to find one word). Keep those improvements coming. Good app!

What a waste of money! Got tricked by Mathboard success. But this application is just rubbish. Key features dont work. Need my money back.

Bought this because I was so impressed with the math app that I had purchased from the same company. I was not expecting to supply the words for this program and still dont know how to use the ones that I did provide. It is the least intuitive product that I have ever purchased related to an Apple device. I should have saved the $4.99, purchased some lined paper, and created my own spellboard.

I was impressed with mathboard but this is totally different. What a waste of money. There should be at least preprogrammed words to start with.

When using the quiz module, if the student misspells the word, the next word does not dictate. Please fix as my son needs this app to do homework!!! It worked fine yesterday.

No instructions on how to use it, useless

My kids use SpellBoard at school and look forward to doing spelling now on their iPads. This is a must have app!

I have been using this app for over 3 years now & this is the SECOND time I created over 25 categories for my son to practice his spelling words, I uploaded pictures for each words & then after sometime my entire categories disappear. The second time I double check & make sure everything was backed up to the cloud & NOW I go back to use the app & my entire list is gone. I have emailed the company in the past & no response. This is beyond frustrating & disappointing !!!

Have been using for years and love it. Trying to use yesterday and today and it keeps freezing and shutting down while I am trying to make a new list. Took me 5 tries, finally having to stop and save it every 5 words. Help

This has got to be the best app I have ever purchased...so worth it. Too bad there no lite version. Every parent will want to have this APP if they have school age kids. Fun and interactive...record your own voice for the word and a phrase. Only tweak would be to make changeable backgrounds. Saw it...Bought it...LOVE it!

Would be great if this app could create or use the the users own word database for word games hangman, crosswords, etc. I would like to see that and it will also make this a very good app and would show how great of a developer you are

For some reason, I assumed that the writing portion of the program was in some way intelligent, and it is not. My daughter does use it for some words, and it is helpful, but it doesnt do what I thought it would do. I have two kids using this app, one child has 30 words each week to study, and the other has 20. It can take me about 45 minutes to enter all of their words and phrases! I wish that I didnt have to say add another word every single time, it is just an extra, unnecessary step. It is really nice to have the phrase option because my daughter often has homonyms on her list. My girls both really enjoy another dinosaur themed spelling app, but find it difficult to understand the computer voice, and it has no way to address homonyms. I would love a few more ways to practice the spelling words in this app: unscramble the word, fill in the missing letters, etc. That is the only thing I feel is really missing in this app, variety for practice. I think my kids like the dinosaur app because it is colorful and has these other practice methods. I also recently found yet another spelling app that is less expensive than this one that has all the same functionality without the writing aspect, which I dont find useful anyway. I would give this app 5 stars if it offered a few more ways to practice the words. Oh, and it only works in portrait mode, and since my kids prefer our external keyboard, it would be nice if the whole app would turn for landscape mode. It would also give my child more room to write longer words.

I bought this because I really like another program from the same company my son uses to practice math. This program does well, but it locks up every time he goes to email the results to me. I have to restart the IPad to get it functioning again. It would also be nice to be able to input a batch to words at a time rather than for it to ask to add a new word each time.

First of all, we love this app!! With some tweaks and additions to the newest version its Five stars for us! The only thing Im not super fond of is the fact that the app automatically alphabetizes the quiz list and word lists. We enter the words in the order (numbered) that they are on my sons spelling words sheet and then they get mixed up by the alphabetization. Perhaps that should be an option? It took me a bit of playing around and exploring to figure out how to sort word lists, but the new save sequence when entering words for a quiz makes everything a lot easier and productive. I also love, love, love, the option of adding a photo!!! That is a phenomenal option for children who have any learning challenges or even for younger children just starting out with spelling. It gives another level of association to words and spelling! Thanks so much for a truly useful and enriching app! By the way… we also use and LOVE MathBoard!! Highly recommend both of these apps!!

Easy to manage weekly word lists and my 1st grader has fun using it to learn her words. She also has fun with the word searches.

This app is not only a great way to test your child on their weekly spelling words, but it also has a couple of fun ways to study the words during the week before the actual test! They practice, and want to, on their iPads every morning during the car ride to school! Ever since we started using this app they havent gotten less than 90% on their tests!
